Narcos Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

8 oz butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs – separated
3 cups all purpose flour
1 T baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk, room temperature

Making the cake:

Preheat oven to 350 and grease a 1/2 sheet pan. In the bowl of a stand mixer or using a hand mixer, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time and mix just until combined. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the flour mixture and milk to the bowl. Alternating between dry and wet. Mix just until combined. Whip egg whites to a medium peak. Gently fold into the batter with a rubber spatula and fold until fully incorporated. Pour into the prepared pan and bake until done – about 20 minutes. Cool completely – refrigerate until firm.

Buttercream:

8 oz butter
3 cups powdered sugar, 10x – sifted
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream

– In the bowl of a stand mixer or using a hand mixer, cream butter and sugar until very light and fluffy. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and salt, mix until combined and smooth. Add heavy cream and beat on high for 5 minutes.

Decorating ingredients:

2 lb white fondant
Corn starch for dusting and for teeny bag of drugs
Wafer paper
Edible printer ink
Ivory gel color
Burgundy gel color
Blue gel color
Gold gel color
Everclear, vodka or clear extract – to add to gel color to paint.
